Which rug? {Opinions welcome!}

By Chelsea

Hello, hello, friends! This may be the first time I have asked something of you; I need your advice! On a whim my husband and I decided to sell our living room area rug in favor of something a bit edgier. The soft pastel, floral, Persian wool rug we've had since we moved in was a great find early on when we needed something to cover the wood floor for our crawling babies. Style was not as great a concern as price and size.

It was actually quite a beautiful rug and served us well for the past 3 years. But as our style has really developed in that time toward a more rustic, edgy, urban look, the rug started looking out of place. It sold fast and this is our space now:

We have an idea of what we'd like to replace our old rug, but I'd love to hear your opinions!

The Lappljung Ruta rug, (below), from Ikea is our first choice at the moment.
LAPPLJUNG RUTA Rug, low pile IKEA Easy to vacuum thanks to its flat surface.
Others we've been considering:

After our current Persian rug sells...Olin Black 8'x10' Rug | Crate and Barrel

STOCKHOLM Rug, flatwoven IKEA The durable, soil-resistant wool surface makes this rug perfect in your living room or under your dining table.

Thoughts?

*And yes, I do realize that this is a very small, insignificant decision in the great big picture of life. But sometimes, making small, fun decisions like this help to ease the load of the tougher ones.*

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thank you, they are from Ikea! All three pieces, (couch + 2 armchairs), are from Ikea's Ektorp collection, (the chairs are the Ektorp Jennylund chair). When we moved into our house 3+ years ago, we really wanted these particular Ektorp pieces, so we prowled Craigslist every day for 2 weeks straight and eventually bought them all second hand from various Craigslist sellers. After we had all the pieces, we went straight to Ikea and bought the new slipcovers, (which truly are easy to wash - and the directions say not to use bleach but I do and haven't had any issues). Sorry for the novel of an answer! I'm just such a fan of checking Craigslist first....and if it's an Ikea piece you can just get a brand new, fresh slipcover.
